River Valley Primary School has a strong and supportive Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association. All parents are encouraged to join the P&C Association and attend meetings held each term.

What is a P&C Association?
A Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) is a group of community minded people, parents and citizens, who take on a more formal role to promote the interests of the school:
- Cooperation between parents, teachers, students and members of the general community;
- Assisting in the provision of resources, facilities and amenities for the school or schools; and
- The fostering of community interest in educational matters.
School Education Act 1999, part 3, division 8, subdivision 2, section 143 (1).
P&C Association is the forum for parents and citizens in government schools who have an interest in their children’s education and gives parents and other members an opportunity to:
- Develop parent participation and involvement in the school.
- Promote and support communication and cooperation within the school community.
- Bring educational matters to the attention of the wider community.
- Provide extra resources for the benefit of government school students
The P&C Association role is to work with the principal and the school community in a productive partnership, to achieve the best possible outcomes for students of the institution. It is not the role of the P&C Association to interfere in the control or management of the school, which is the role of the principal.
Our committee members are elected at our AGM, held each year. The P&C is always looking for the energy and ideas of new members, so please feel free to come and join in. We hope to see you soon.
