Our core values of respect, equity, teamwork and learning, alond with our positive behaviour support expectations of Resilience, Responsibility and Respect, underpin everything we do.  The health and wellbeign of staff and students is paramount.

 

Our Behaviour Expectations

We continue to maintain a very strong focus on the implementation of the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Framework, which ensures that our school expectations are embedded in everything that we do.

The 3R's, reflect our desire to see students be ambitious and strive for success, to take responsibility for their learning and to care for others.

Resilience

We employ a growth mind-set and ensure that we persevere when faced with challenges.

Responsibility
We are dependable, we make strong choices and take responsibility for our actions.

Respect
We are inclusive and considerate of the needs and feelings of others.

 

Our Shared Beliefs

Staff at River Valley Primary School base their planning, teaching and decision-making on the following shared beliefs:

  • All children are expected to make individual progress.
  • Student learning is optimised when consistent teaching approaches are used.
  • Students learn best through a Gradual Release Model (I do, we do, you do).
  • The learning environment is safe, challenging and inclusive.
  • Students are most successful when we develop the whole child socially, academically, emotionally, creatively and physically. 
  • Students prior knowledge and understanding determines what and how we teach.
  • Positive student teacher relationships are the key to successful learning.
  • High expectations, both academically and socially, are expected of all.
  • Diversity if all is respected, valued and celebrated.
  • To be at their best, the health and wellbeing of students and staff is always a priority.
